The Detroit Catholic Pastoral Alliance (DCPA) is a Community Development Corporation on Detroit's Eastside.

Established by 8 Catholic Parishes in The City of Detroit, the alliance has been and is committed to the equitable building of the city of Detroit, through our various programs which include affordable housing, youth leadership development and senior programs.  We believe that transformation first starts with the people.

Position Description

​

The Detroit Catholic Pastoral Alliance is looking for a part-time Accountant who can help further the financial goals of the organization by:

  • Supporting the Organizations Finance in establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies, and principles

  • Managing accounts receivable – invoicing tenants

  • Managing accounts payable - processing payments, ensuring proper documentation, and coding of expenses

  • Producing various financial reports as needed (grant reports, financial statements, etc.)

  • Reconciling accounts, including bank, loan, etc.

  • Maintaining and organizing files and records to document transactions

  • Assisting with audit preparations

 

A good candidate for this position should be:

  • able to communicate with staff/board

  • Proficient computer skills on Microsoft Office and Sage 50 accounting software

  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in accounting/non-profit accounting

  • Highly attentive to detail and accuracy

  • Strong analytical skills
