Anti-Racism Work
The Alliance has been actively involved in anti-racism work for 20 years. It began with the formation of our anti-racism team which received extensive trainings from both the People’s Institute (New Orleans) and Crossroads (Chicago).
The Alliance has developed a curriculum to assist parish leaders and members to understand racism and combat it in their everyday lives. We have sponsored various anti-racism trainings throughout Metro Detroit with religious organizations, parishes, and community groups as well as with Catholic High Schools.
In the Spring of 2020, shortly after the death of George Floyd, the Alliance called a group of priests, religious and lay people called the Change Makers. This group came together with the soul purpose of drawing together a plan that would shift the dynamics with in the Archdiocese of Detroit.

This plan was submitted the Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron in November of 2020.
